Working on the land can become another extraordinary thing you do

A new kind of opportunity has quietly taken root in West Marin, and it’s open to almost anyone.

There is a particular moment that happens to a lot of people from the Bay Area. You are good at what you do. Maybe very good. You’ve built a career, learned a craft, and mastered a system.

But then, one afternoon, on a walk, or sitting in the park, staring at other people. You feel it, you feel a pull toward something you can’t name it. Something slower, something grounded.

If you know that feeling, you are not alone. And you are exactly who we want to be part of our Farmer’s Program.

A grid with images of different people, from different ages, and professions, but all of them sharing a love for regenerative agriculture.

A different opportunity, close to the Bay Area

Tucked into the rolling hills of West Marin, Blue Marble Acres is an organic agricultural community doing something radical: opening its land to the next generation of growers, stewards, and land-curious humans.

The Farmer’s Program offers access to real, organic farmland with shared infrastructure already in place, deer fencing, and water access, tools, and onboarding support. The kind of foundation that would take most aspiring farmers years and significant capital to build on their own.

The idea is simple, even if the work is not: remove the barriers that keep people off the land, and let something extraordinary grow.

Two paths, one shared vision

We are offering two options. The first one is for market gardeners, small-scale producers, and herbalists who want to plant this season, not spend years preparing to plant. These developed plots are ready to go. This ground has been previously farmed with row crops; the soil is established, and full deer fencing is already in place. Shared infrastructure reduces the cost and complexity of getting started, and onboarding support helps you navigate your first season with confidence.

The second option is for those with a longer vision, who want to build food forests, perennial systems, and experimental polycultures. We offer undeveloped plots, which are rare: a genuine creative freedom on up to 2 acres of land that will be prepared specifically around your project’s needs. Soil is disced and amended to your specifications. This is land for people who want to build something that outlasts a single season.

In the undeveloped plots, irrigation infrastructure must be established with support. Water and equipment arrangements are worked out individually. For both pathways, one condition applies without exception: 100% organic practices. No pesticides and no synthetic inputs. Ever.

You don’t have to be a farmer yet

One of the most important things to understand about this program: it is not just for people who already identify as farmers.

The community at Blue Marble Acres includes teachers, tech workers, chefs, EMTs, students, wellness practitioners, project managers, and many more.

What all these people share is not a resumé full of agricultural experience. It’s a genuine pull toward the land and a desire to do something meaningful with it.

The program meets people where they are. Whether you are planning to grow food for a farmers market, cultivate medicinal herbs, develop a regenerative food forest, or simply start learning what it means to tend soil. There is a place for you here.

More than a plot of land

What makes our Farmer’s Program different is not just the access to organic land; it is the underlying philosophy.

Blue Marble Acres believes the land remembers how it is treated.

Farming is not just food production; it means building the soil, resting it, biodiversity stewardship, and a long-term investment in the health of our place. The program is designed to develop a community of growers who share those values and can support each other across seasons.

Shared infrastructure is not just practical; it is intentional. When barriers are reduced, more people can participate. When more people participate, the community around the land grows stronger.

Why West Marin and why now

West Marin is one of the most ecologically significant landscapes in California. Its coastal grasslands, rich soils, and Mediterranean climate make it uniquely suited to regenerative agriculture. It is also a community with deep roots in land stewardship, organic farming, and ecological advocacy.

This is not a place where farming is a trend. This is a place where it is always a way of life, and where the next generation of stewards is actively needed.

How to apply

The application process is straightforward. You can apply directly using our online form and share a little bit about what you are hoping to grow and why.

Plans are flexible; you can switch plot types, upgrade, or make changes at any time. There is no rigid commitment that locks you in before you’ve had a chance to get your hands in the soil.

If you have questions, the team is available through the contact page and is genuinely invested in helping people find the right fit.

The land is waiting

Somewhere in West Marin, there is a plot of organic soil that hasn’t been claimed yet. It is fenced, it is cared for, and it is ready for someone who wants to do something extraordinary, not in spite of their other work and passions, but alongside them.

Maybe that someone is you.
